Sandy Young- Director
Sandy is founder and director of Acting Up Children’s Theatre. Sandy has previously directed many productions for children theatres and schools, with casts ranging in number from 50 to 100. Her productions have played to many sold-out audiences over the past 15 years, and include Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Wizard of Oz, Beauty and the Beast, Peter Pan, Shrek, Aladdin, Elf the Musical Jr., and Charlie Brown. Sandy is proud to have several of the actors she introduced to theatre now pursuing acting and film careers at the Governor’s School for the Arts and various universities. Sandy has also served on the board for a local community theatre. In addition to full-scale productions, Sandy organizes and directs Drama Camps in the summer, and teaches acting classes, spreading the magic of theatre to over 100 young thespians each year. This will be the 10th summer for Acting Up Theatre Camp, and the first at The Younts Center for Performing Arts!
When not directing, Sandy is a former teacher and now a full-time Realtor. She is mother to 4 wonderful children, all of whom have been involved in one or more of her productions at various levels. Before she became a director, she enjoyed acting! Her favorite role was Sally in Charlie Brown.
